Recycle and Reuse

Recycle, Repurpose and Reuse

Reduce_Reuse_RecycleFor us, there is nothing more satisfying than a day well spent. Though often we seem to be working all the time, sometimes what looks like work is actually us in creative mode. For us, work is that which we have to do to maintain the status quo and keep the momentum moving forward. Sometimes it is fun, but most of the time we find ourselves trying to pass off the mundane tasks necessary once they are established.

On the other hand, some of our most intense efforts are in the creative aspects of our lives. Recently we had the opportunity to salvage a newly renovated home that is scheduled to be demolished. All the appliances and finishing work was less than a year old. To boot, there were 400 square feet of newly laid wood flooring. All together there was at least $10,000 of materials. Keep in mind that we are also strong advocates of recycling and reuse.

LAND FILLThis massive action took three hard days of labor. Everything needed to be carefully removed, organized and stored. The next step is that we are replacing an older kitchen with brand new cabinets and countertop. The old kitchen will be used in our new office kitchen. The flooring will replace our worn out kitchen floor. We also salvaged brand new gutters to put on our house.

superhero RECYCLE MANAll these things could have easily been purchased. But the point is that we are recycling and lessening our footprint. Also, we have eliminated the waste of beautiful stuff that would have been demolished with the house. This is part of our creativity. Nothing goes to waste until it is waste.

Instead of continually having to make something new, sometimes creativity is appreciating and finding ways to use all that we already have.
