There is a Therapeutic Creative Meditation that happens when involved with making DIY crafts. Recently one of our daughters had started making handcrafted jewelry. The items are beautiful. She was telling us how she gets into a quiet meditation as she is crafting each of her necklaces. Her mind becomes calm, and she feels relaxed and content.
This effect is real for us as well. When we are not writing, working or otherwise, we too get into doing some creation that does not take much mind-thought. Sometimes in the middle of an activity, some of the most amazing ideas float into the mind. Often a solution presents itself about something that was haunting us for days.
When sitting quiet and getting into meditation to relieve stress is difficult, we will often go to a creative, mind relaxing activity instead.
